Choosing a desktop PC case can be a really simple decision for some and a much more difficult one for others. If you want a certain look for your case, there are definitely a ton of options out there for you to choose from. You can deck out your case with LED's, windows, graphic decals, custom fan grills, etc, etc, etc.
If style isn't important to you, than you really only have to make one decision (unless you're a gamer, in which case you have two), and that is what form factor case to go with.
Gamers have another case decision though, and that is how much they want to spend on keeping their system cool. If you're looking to get the best performance as possible out of your PC, keeping your system temps down is a must. Your case MUST support a steady air-flow stream to keep cool air coming in and hot air out. Cooling goes beyond the case, but the foundation for keeping those temps down
