Computer Hard Drive
Minimum Price Range: $50-$70
Choosing a computer hard drive or drives is typically less complicated than choosing other componenents for your PC. There are really only a few things you need to know when your purchasing a hard drive:
-
What hard drive interface does your motherboard support? (Usually either parallel IDE or SATA)
-
How much space do you want?
-
Are you looking for a high-dollar/higher-performance hard drive?
It'is that simple. As you might expect, the bigger the hard drive, the more expensive it'll be. If you have a lot of music, pictures, games, etc. on your computer then you'll need more space, if not, you may not need as much. As far as performance goes, you can buy hard drives that are faster than others, but unless you're a PC performance enthusiast (be it a gamer, do alot of video editing work, or run one or many resource intensive apps at once) you probably won't need or notice the extra speed. Deciding on and buying your hard drive shouldn't be as time-consuming as deciding on other PC components (such as the processor, motherboard, or video card) as the variation between the different brands is much smaller than the other components. Answer the 3 questions above regarding a hard drive and buy whatever meets that criteria for the best price.
